Named after a flower and created and managed by women, with only two exceptions, which is not strange since Venezuelan cuisine has always been the daughter of female hands which for centuries have been committed to the early settlers’ kitchens. This is Irina Peroso’s creation, starting some years back at Cocido with Helena Ibarra, later to find her way at Café del Museo. The setting is flirty, it could not have been any other way, honoring its name, and from the kitchen, you get dishes with grandmother’s typical seasoning, portrayed in a variety of forgotten dishes or just simply not familiar to the younger generations. All is very well prepared and presented. You can regularly find new dishes, but always keeping to traditional recipes such as black roasted beef cakes, handmade telita cheese tequeños, beef stew with dry shredded beef, celeriac gnocchi sautéed with sweet chili, stuffed sweet chili, cassava cakes, chocolate mousse with ripe miniature bananas called titiaros, etc. The dining area is small and the terrace is pleasant once the sun goes down.
