They changed its somewhat socialist last name and called it Venezuela, also making some changes to its approach. It’s now some sort of franchise sponsored by the government, but profitable, at least enough to stay in business. That’s why the arepas are now more expensive, but still more affordable than its competitors’. Medium size arepas, more on the thin side, with little dough, not very toasted, low on salt. The filling options are scrambled eggs, clams, beans, shredded beaf, sausages and shredded Guayanes cheese. During lunch, there is soup, rice with chicken, and “pabellón” which includes shredded beef, black beans, fried plantains and white rice. People complain that the portions are small. Well, one can’t ask for more because the prices are economical.
